  Metamaterial (MM) are artificial microstructure composites with subwavelength-size features of which dielectric constant ε and permeability μ could be designed at will.Therefore,it can be seen as an ideal platform for controlling electromagnetic waves.Recently,intensive interest has been focused on the terahertz (THz) MM absorber,which has a variety of applications such as spectrum of medical imaging,contraband detector and devices for absorption and detection of electromagnetic waves.Compared with traditional absorbers,this new absorber can not only flexibly control the electromagnetic wave,but also bears the features of small size,light weight and high efficiency.However,the bandwidth of THz MM absorber is narrow,control on the electromagnetic response is highly desired.Generally speaking,changing the geometry of metallic pattern or dielectric thickness could enable tuning of the effective material response parameters,allowing for both impedance matching and strong absorption at nearly any desired frequency.
