Food irradiation has been studied since 1960s and successful commercial applied since later 1990s.The detail development of food irradiation technique in China is described and analyzed in the report.The investigations on the safety and feasibility of food irradiation was mainly conducted in 1980s,and then semi-commercial facilities for appling the technique were established at provincial institutions.During 1980s to1990s,most of researches and establishment of the facilities were finacial supported by the government.A series regulations and standards for food irradiation application have been established in 1990s.More and more private companies has involved in the food irradiation application since later 1990s.
