With the development of the globalization of higher education,university ranking becomes a serving tool for education policy.Ranking is also an important form of external oversight of higher education quality assurance system,which affects the judgements of many university leaders,education policy makers and regulators,industry and philanthropic investors,prospective students,especially international students and their families.This paper is based on several universities dominant global ranking systems,features of traditional global university ranking system are reviewed and summarized.
