  Autophagy is a lysosome-dependent degradation pathway which mediates many physiological processes including cellular stress responses,intracellular transport and neuroprotection.Efficient degradation of autophagy via lysosomes is an important cellular homeostatic process.The SNARE proteinSyntaxin17(Syx17)forms a complex with Usnp(SNAP-29)and Vamp7 to mediate thefusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes.Loss of these genes results in accumulation ofautophagosomes and a block of autolysosomal degradationduring autophagy.
