Solid-phase microextraction (SPME), a solvent-free sample preparation technique, has been widely applied to the analysis of environmental, food, biological, and pharmaceutical samples. To date, only a few types of coatings are commercially available and the selectivity of those coatings is insufficient. It is evident that future advancements in SPME should greatly depend on the development of new selective coatings.Molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) is quite suitable as the material of SPME fiber coatings because of high selectivity, chemical stability and easy preparation characteristics. In this paper, two kinds of novel MIP-coated SPME fibers that could be coupled directly to high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) were prepared. The characteristics and application of the fibers were also investigated.
