Background and Aim:Biliary tract obstruction is a common clinical problem.Duodenum is the major organ where intestinal glucose absorption takes place.However,the effect of biliary tract obstruction on duodenal glucose absorption is little known.In this study,we made an investigation on duodenal glucose absorption in experimental models of murine biliary duct ligation (BDL) and external biliary drainage (BD).Materials and methods Murine duodenal mucosal glucose absorption was examined in vitro in Ussing chambers according to the increase of shortcircuit current (Isc).The mRNA and protein expressions of the sodium-glucose cotransporter (SGLT1),the facilitated glucose transporter,member 2 (GLUT2) and the facilitated glucose transporter,member 5 (GLUT5) were analyzed by real time PCR,western blot,and immunohistochemistry.
