The typical operations of planting operation for precision agriculture contain precision seeding, variable rate fertilization, variable spraying and yield monitoring and so on.At present,most of the monitoring systems are developed for a specific task.A monitoring system for this task can not be applied to another task.The hardware and software resource can not be reused.In order to improve the utilization of hardware resources, to shorten the development cycle of the new monitoring system, a general monitoring platform for agricultural machinery which can be reuse in multiple tasks has been developed in this study.Industrial Personal Computer (IPC) has been selected as hardware development platform;multi-purpose terminals which can realize monitoring function of precision agriculture typical operations has been developed based on LabVIEW in the paper.The Monitoring terminal consists of the main board, micro controller, Controller Area Network (CAN) transceiver board, man-machine interactive system and other parts.The core control circuit of the micro controller and the hardware circuit of the CAN transceiver board have been developed, while the main board and man-machine interactive system have been selected and planned as well.A PCM-9363 embedded main board has been selected for monitoring terminal;the main board has a strong capacity of dust proof and anti vibration.A S3C2440A has been used as the microcontroller to control the CAN transceiver board receiving data from the CAN bus.A MCP2515 has been used as the CAN protocol controller for monitoring terminal receiving machine operation status information on the communication network, as well as controlling the transmission of the control parameters.Touch panel has been used to achieve human-computer interaction for monitoring terminal.In terms of information inputs, users try to get rid of the dependence on keyboard and mouse.In terms of information outputs, monitoring terminal outputs working status information of the typical operations mainly.The terminal is connected with the lower computer by CAN bus, and the user can exchange data with the lower computer which in accordance with the CAN communication protocol by CAN bus.Then the monitoring terminal microcontroller program and LabVIEW serial port interface program have been designed.Laboratory simulation and field tests show that the monitoring terminal works stable and reliable.It can meet the requirements of monitoring for precision agriculture typical operations.
