The tumor vasculature is an attractive target for tumor therapy. It has been reported that when tumors grow to a size larger than 2-3 mm3,their continued growth strongly depends on angiogenesis. As a result, various drugs targeting tumor-initiated angiogenic processes(angiogenesis inhibitors)or destroying the established tumor vessel network(vascular disrupting agents,VDAs)have been developed and are currently under clinical evaluation.
