Use of Machine Learning in Brain Image Analysis

  Morphological reconstruction is a powerful technique in neuroanatomy.However, manual reconstructions are tedious and time consuming.While automated techniques based on dendritic shape modeling and graph theoretical constraints exist, they seem to require fine tuning and lack general applicability so that reconstructions are still largely performed by hand.Rather than trying to hand-design an algorithm, we pursue a machine learning approach that tunes parameters automatically based on a training set, enabling nearly automatic reconstructions of ganglion cells.
