To measure metabolites in a biological system, samples have to be taken and analyzed.There are different instrumental methods available for analyzing such samples, e.g., NMR and mass spectrometry.For metabonomics, mass spectrometry (MS) in combination with a separation method, e.g., gas chromatography (GC/MS) or liquid chromatography (LC/MS), is a very powerful and often used instrumental method.This work proposes metabonomics integrating chromatography/mass spectrum data to study the action of nourishing liver of herbal medicine, Fructus LigustriLucidi.
