The early weaning played a role in the modern pig industry, which would caused weaned stress reactions.Therefore, how to reduced the weaned stress of weaned piglets became an important problem.This study was conducted to investigate the effects of antibacterial peptides (ABP) and astragalus polysaccharide (AP) on the antioxidant function of tissues in weaned piglets.Ninety 21-day-old healthy weaned piglets were randomly divided into five groups based on weight (8.24 ± 0.67) kg.The control group was fed basal diet, AP group was fed basal diet and AP 400mg/kg,ABP group Ⅰ-Ⅲ were fed separately with basal diet and ABP at a dosage of 250,500,1 000mg/kg at 26 days of weaned piglets, respectively.The experiment lasted for 28 day.The liver,lung, spleen and kidney antioxidant indices were determined at 39 ,53 days of age.AP and different concentrations of ABP added to standard diet significantly (P < 0.01 or 0.05) enhanced the tissues (liver, lung, spleen, kidney) SOD、 GSH-Px、CAT、T-AOC and inhibition of · OH capacity, significantly (P < 0.01) decreased the levels of MDA.The antioxidant function of tissues in the ABP groups were dose dependent, the optimum add dosage of ABP was found to be 1 000mg/kg,and was superior (P < 0.01 or 0.05) to the 400mg/kg AP group.It showed that ABP could effectively improve the activity of the antioxidant enzyme of tissues in weaned piglets, act to scavenge free radicals and improve body function.
