The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between uncoupling protein-2(UCP-2) and gastric cancer. We used ELISA studies to examine UCP-2 in 102 patients with gastric cancer. The results showed that The concentration of UCP-2 in the venous blood samples of patients with gastric cancer is lower than those of the healthy controls.UCP-2 may a new serological indicator, which provide the evidence for gastric cancer screening. The UCP-2 in patients with gastric cancer has not been associated with the tumor grade or stage. Therefore, the protein is not as an indirect index to assess the prognosis of gastric cancer.
