With the increase of morbid obesity in the Brazilian population, it was observed a significant increase in the number ofbariatric surgery paid by the Unified Health System which is nowadays the country with the second highest number of such interventions in the world.Morbid obesity is a refractory state to the medical treatments, with a recurrence rate of around 98%.The weight loss is an important parameter to evaluate the outcomes of surgery, as well as the predictors of outcome identification, but the deleterious effects associated with morbid obesity on physical, psychological and mental functioning health, as well as are recognized due to the large burden of suffering and limitations on the individual social condition.
