Understanding the molecular, cellular and tissue changes that occur during skin carcinogenesis is central to cancer research in dermatology, much of which remains unknown.IR spectroscopy is a sensitive tool for studying isolated biomolecules alone and in interactions, especially the nucleic acids, that might carry important information for common and specific skin carcinogenesis.Based on the received results about significant levels of the multiplet at ~ 1055 cm1 in epidermal cancers, here the observation of this peak will be presented in a variety of histologically confirmed epidermal skin premalignant conditions and lesions.In those, I will be discussing intra-and inter-molecular activity levels and their correlations for nucleic acids and proteins.I will be illustrating the idea whether IR microspectroscopy can be useful in the understanding of skin carcinogenesis or not.
