With the focus on translation studies shifting from the perspective of linguistics to that of sociology,obvious achievements have been gained in this area.However,either in research content,depth,methodology or in concept,there is still a long way to go.First,more space for the inter-disciplinary studies,to learn from the achievements in neighbouring disciplines to interpret the operation of translation activities:for instance,Mona Baker(2006/2011),from narrative account to explain the relationship between translation and power and politics;secondly,to further strengthen the study of translation in broad sense to include such forms as literary review,biographies of the writers,encyclopaedia and imitation,all of which are popular channels to introduce foreign works and thoughts into China and they greatly influenced Chinese revolution and literature,which remain under-researched;thirdly,to study oral interpreting from the macrocosmic level;many examples prove there is much more manipulation of politics in interpreting than we thought(see Barsky 1993,1996,2005;Baker 2006);fourthly,with the increasing of the globalization,more and more frequently,conflict within a country involves interlingual and intercultural communication,translation functions significantly in the narrative,to which we should attach more significance(see Baker 2011:33);Fifthly,we often take it for granted that scientific narrative is objective.However,many facts show that it is not the case.Scientific narrative,in certain circumstances,is also manipulated by dominant politics and power.In disseminating or resisting such narratives,translation plays a very important role.This should be given more attention.
