Taiwan Strait (TS) is a conduit linking the two major Chinese seas:the East China Sea (ECS) and the South China Sea (SCS) for water, marine biota, and material exchanges on time scales of tidal,seasonal,inter-annual,and beyond. From the Source-to-Sink perspective,TS receives terrestrial sediment from distal sources of two major rivers of Changjiang (ChJ,Yangtze River) and Zhujiang (ZhJ,Pearl River),and proximal sources of small rivers on the Min-Zhe coast on the mainland side, and small mountainous rivers having high sediment yield in the world on the west coast of Taiwan.
