FAST, Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope, to be built in a Karst depression in Guizhou Province of southwest China is the Chinese engineering concept proposed and extensively investigated since 1994.FAST uses an airborne focus cabin to carry the delicate receivers capable of observing the universe. The 3D position and pose of the receivers can be precisely adjusted by an AB positioner and a hexapod for clear observation of stars. The deformations of these mechanisms are strictly limited because of the precise control requirements, while the total weight of the cabin should be less than 30 tons.As a result, a lot of optimizations are needed in the structural and mechanical design.
