Cardiovascular MR imaging (CMR) is offering diagnostic tools for a wide range of cardiovascular diseases, Although fast paced technological advances facilitated the development novel clinical applications, CMR is perceived as a comparably complex imaging modality. In this presentation, emerging techniques are reviewed that focus on the workflow ofCMR: (a) fast and highly accelerated imaging technologies using 2D and 3D approaches minimize scan time and exam time, (b) novel guided user interface concepts reduce the complexity of CMR exams, and (c) unsupervised generation of clinically relevant quantitative values may eliminate labor intensive manual post processing of CMR data.
