  Enhanced generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)in chloroplasts is one of the earliest responses of plants to environmental stresses such as cold,heat,drought,high light and pathogen.Recent studies have revealed that photosystem II-associated EXECUTER1 protein may sense one of the ROS known as singlet oxygen(1O2)and triggers chloroplast-to-nucleus retrograde signaling.
