The paper describes the leaching behavior of zinc and manganese from spent zinc-carbon battery and produce of chemical manganese dioxide (CMD).For extracting zinc and manganese from the spent zinc-carbon battery scrap without other impurities such as copper, aluminum, and iron, the series leaching tests were investigated.Under the leaching conditions (1.0 mol dm-3 H2SO4, 60 ℃, 100 g L-1 pulp density, 2h, and 300 rpm),the leaching amount of zinc and manganese were 44.9 g/L and 42.1 g/L, respectively.
