  Radiation is one of the main modalities in treating head and neck cancer.Traditional radiation techniques cause significant toxicities.Acute side effects results in interruption of treatment, and a prolonged treatment course leads to poor tumor control.Late side effects severely affect the quality of life of the patients, interfering with their daily life.Critical structures involving in salivary production, eating, swallowing and speech are often involved or at the vicinity of the tumor.Sparing these structures from high dose radiation may reduce side effects and improve patients quality of life.
