  Dating back to 1899,highmetal frames,exposed devices and spaces,as well as high various workshops inside the Dalian locomotive plant show the unique temperament of heavy industry.The natural environment in the locomotive plant is good.Buildings,roads,train tracks naturally divide the plant into open space of various forms,among which,the Machine WorkshopⅡ,as one of the first main workshops,is one of the major protected buildings in Dalian with its intact building structural frame and the value of protection and reuse.From the perspective of the integrated construction of the industrial heritage protection and the ecological environment,this paper discusses the sustainable renewal and redevelopment strategy for Dalian locomotive plant.The paper firstly traces to the source of Dalian locomotive plant,and probes into its unique value and significance based on the status investigation and analysis.Secondly,from the point of view of the industry civilization protection and its concept of inheritance,the paper puts forward the strategy of typical architectural function improvement and culture environment construction through the analysis of the overall environment in the site and its surrounding areas and even the city of Dalian;meanwhile,from the concept of sustainability,this paper proposes the strategy of the integrated construction of the culture and the ecological environment,to extend the typical historical context,buildings frame and other factors of Dalian Locomotive on the basis of the site and the architecture archetype,and to implant new functions,landscapes,markers,surface and other elements,constructing an integrated urban public place of ecology and culture.
