  Research on supercritical water (SCW) has increased dramatically in the past few decades due to both a desire for "green" chemistyy and the unusual physical and chemical properties of SCW.For example, the dielectric constant for water, falls as the temperature and pressure increase.The result of this is that water becomes a reasonably good solvent for or ganic molecules, potentially removing the need for costly and environmentally harmful organic solvents.
