Description of Noviherbaspirillum xiangshanensis sp.nov., isolated from air

  A Gram-negative,pale orange-pigmented,rod-shaped,strictly aerobic bacterial strain,designated 122213-3T,was isolated from air at the foot of Xiangshan Mountain,Beijing,China.Phylogenetic and phenotypic analysis of the organism revealed that the isolate belongs to the genus Noviherbaspirillum.Strain 122213-3T shares the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity (96.79%) with Noviherbaspirillum malthae CC-AFH3T,followed by Noviherbaspirillum aurantiacum SUEMI08T (95.59%),Noviherbaspirillum soli SUEMI10T (95.35%) and Noviherbaspirillum psychrotolerans PB1T (95.17%).Growth of strain 122213-3T was observed at 4-40℃ (optimum,30℃),at pH 4.5-12.0 (optimum,pH7.0) and at salinities of 0-5% (w/v) NaC1 (optimum 0-1%).The major fatty acids were Sum In Feature 3 (38.4%),Sum In Feature 8 (29.4%),C16:0 (13.9%),summed feature 3 (9.1%) and C10:03-OH (6.9%).The predominant respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-8 (Q-8).Polar lipid analysis indicated the presence of phosphatidylethanolamine,diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol as the major polar lipids and unknown phospholipids,aminolipids as minor lipids.The DNA G+C content of the type strain is 61.5mo1%.Differential phenotypic properties,together with the phylogenetic and genetic distinctiveness,demonstrated that strain 122213-3T is distinguishable from other species of the genus Noviherbaspirillum.On the basis of the data from the polyphasic characterization,strain 122213-3T represents a novel species,for which the name Noviherbaspirillum xiangshanensis sp.nov.is proposed.
