The direct strip casting process has attracted attention as a near net shape technologies.BAOSTEEL GROUP CORPORATION and Primetals Technologies Japan,Ltd.have jointly developed Twin Roll Caster for carbon steel based on the direct strip casting technologies.The strip casting demo plant,with 800mm diameter and 1340mm long casting rolls,was installed in Ningbo Steel and its operation was started up in 2014.A stable castability of 1340mm wide strips and long term sequence casting of more than 180ton was succeeded.This paper presents the downstream equipment of the direct strip casting such as an In-line reduction mill,Strip cooling system and Carrousel reel type coiler.Our discussion focuses on stable rolling technologies including Dynamic Pair Cross and strip temperature control technologies.
