  Chemical oxidation-exfoliation-reduction of graphite powder is a standout method for mass production of graphene materials,and the resultant graphene oxide(GO)and reduced GO(rGO)are usually denominated as chemically modified graphenes(CMGs).This cost-effective wet chemical approach possesses several advantages,including high yield from cheap graphite,amenability to operation and scalability for industrial utilization,ease in tuning the properties of graphene materials and convenience of fabricating graphene composites.However,the practical applications of CMGs need shaping them into macroscopic architectures with controlled compositions and microstructures.This presentation describes the methods of self-assembling CMG sheets into one-dimensional fibres,two-dimensional films and three-dimensional gels.These fibres and films showed ultra-high electrical and thermal conductivities,moduli,tensile strengths,toughnesses.The functional gels including hydrogels,organogels and aerogels exhibited large specific surface areas,high electrical and mechanical properties,good electrochemical and thermal stabilities.These graphene materials have a wide potential applications in sensors,catalysis,energy conversion and storage and flexible electronics.
