The MoS2/Sb2O3 composite films prepared on the 9Cr18 steel discs have been investigated by means of UMT-2 tribometer. The worn surface morphologies of balls and discs during different worn phases were observed on a high-resolution microscope. The chemical elements of worn surface were analyzed with PHI-5720 XPS.The worn sections of discs during different wom phases were tested on a profile meter. The results show that the MoS2/Sb2O3 composite films have better oxidation resistance properties and longer wear-life(6.5×105r).The films on the discs whose occupation probability are equivalent to 85% thickness of the films were worn and transferred at the beginning of the skimming wear(0~ 1.0× 105r),and the dual module of bail-disc was actually face-contact during the whole friction and wear test.MoS2 transferred from disc to the surface of the bail contributed its longer wear life.Accumulated wear between balls and discs resulted in lubrication failure, and accompanying oxidation occuring partiaily at the surface of the films accelerated the failure.
