The utilization of CaO-based sorbents to capture CO2 has become of special interest since it is one of the most promising methods to reduce CO2 emissions from flue gases.1 However, natural CaO-based sorbents such as limestone and dolomite are not good candidates for capturing CO2 with regards to their poor stability over multiple carbonation-calcination cycles, which is mainly caused by material sintering and reduction of the reactive surface area occurring at high calcination temperature.
