Human-elephant conflict is a serious problem to the elephant conservation in Puer.The human-elephant conflict was studied from May 2014 to May 2015 in Puer Yunnan China.The elephants in Puer mainly distribute in Simao, Jiangcheng and Lancang.Field observations, questionnaire and data collection were used in the surveys of human-elephant conflict.The results show that, economic losses caused by Asian elephants was on the rise since 2009 to 2012.The total number of conflicts were 3 626, and caused economic losses of (□)1 666 976 8 in 2013.There were four class 28 kinds of economic losses, no casualties.But in 2014, five people were killed and wounded by Asian elephants.And we found 20 elephants were eating corn, including 19 female elephants and a underage male elephant in Jiangcheng.Under the analysis, elephants caused huge economics losses, and all kinds of conflicts.This paper preliminary analyzed the reason of human-elephant conflict.It can lay a foundation for further research on ecological mechanism of human-elephant conflict, and put forward reasonable measures to ease conflict between human and elephant in the future.
