Traumatic brain injury (TBI) results in significant hippocampal pathology and hippocampal dependent memory loss, both of which have been shown to be improved by hypothermia treatment.Our laboratory has been interested in examining the molecular mechanisms regulated by hypothermia after TBI.For example, previous studies have assessed the effects of temperature modifications after brain injury on ex citotoxicity, inflammatory and apoptotic cell death mechanisms.
