Objective: To evaluate the risk factors for circumferential resection margin (CRM) invasion, and to establish a model for predicting CRM invasion in patients with middle and lower rectal cancer.Methods: CRM pathological features of 66 consecutive middle and lower rectal cancer patients who underwent radical resection from July 2011 to January 2013 were prospectively assessed via multivariable logistic regression to predict the presence of CRM invasion.The model was subsequently applied prospectively to53 patients.The model value was predicted by drawing the trend line and calculating the area under the curve (AUC) of receiveroperator characteristic (ROC).
