The kidney is pivotal for the internal balance by regulation of wastes disposal, hormone endocrine and re-absorption.There are three stages: pronephros, mesonephros, metanephros, successively involved in mammalian kidney development, whose hypoplasia severely impairs human health.However, the underlying molecular mechanisms involving in this process remain largely unknown.A1CF, a RNA binding protein containing three RNA recognition motifs (RRM), is essential for fetal development as its loss of function leads to embryonic lethality in mice.Bioinformatic analysis indicates that Alcf is highly conserved across species with more than 80% amino acid identity between mouse and human.
