Size-and shape-based separation is an effective complementary process to prepare well-defined materials for fundamental studies and applications.Herein, mixture of gold nanospheres and nanoplates with the wide standard deviation (SD) (21% for the former and 30% for the latter) was synthesized using the extract of sundried Cacumen Platycladi (CP) leaf.Size-separation of such Au NPs was firstly achieved via density gradient centrifugation(DGC), and then the resulting fractional mixture of nanospheres and nanoplates with graded-size were further separated according to their shape by agarose gel electrophoresis(AGE).After the two-step separation, monodisperse nanospheres (SD: 4-5%) and nanoplates (SD: 6-7%) were obtained, separately.
