Calmodulin (CaM) is a multifunctional protein thatregulates the activity of a large number of different target proteins and enzymes including phosphodiesterase, myosinlightchain, kinase, CaM kinase, calcineurin, nitricoxidesynthase, and Ca2+-gated channels [1-6].The cooperative binding of Ca2+ to calmodulins two Ca2+-binding domains induces a large conformational changes which result in the exposure to solvent of a significant amount of non-polar surface area in each domain and allow calmodulin to activate a number of intracellular proteins and enzymes that are involved in a wide variety of different biochemical processes.
