This study was carried out to evaluate the radical scavenging activityof giycoprotein isolated from jellyfish Rhopilema esculentum, and the effect on which of temperature. The results showed glycoprotein had dose-dependent scavenging activities for superoxide anion radical and hydroxyl radical. The value IC50 of glycoprotein was 450μg·ml-1 while value IC5o of carnosine was 80μg·ml-1 for scavenging activities of superoxide anion radical, and the value IC50 of glycoprotein was 750μg·ml-1 while value IC5o of carnosine was 100μg.ml-1 for scavenging activities of hydroxyl radical. That suggest that the glycoprotein has strong radical scavenging activity but lower than camosine. Moreover, radical scavenging activity was stable at high temperature.
