  YVO4:Bi3+,Eu3+ nanophosphor,which emits red light under near-UV light excitation,is one of the suitable candidates for wavelength converters in optical and optoelectric devices,such as near-UV LEDs and spectral down-shifters for solar cells,because of the following properties: higher photostability compared to organic luminescent materials,no absorption and low light scattering intensity due to its size in the visible region.We fabricate monolithic nanocomposites of silica containing citrate-capped YVO4:Bi3+,Eu3+ nanoparticles,which are synthesized by coprecipitation method via a citrate precursor.A basic aqueous solution of tetramethylammonium silicate(TMAS)is chosen as a silica source,since the negatively-charged nanophosphor can be well-dispersed in this solution.
