The androgen receptor (AR) signaling axis has been the cornerstone of investigations into the prevention and therapy of metastatic prostate cancers (PCa).As recurrent tumors restore AR activity independent of hormones, new therapies that abolish AR activity have been sought to prevent or delay the emergence of hormone-refractory disease. To monitor the AR activity in PCa cell, we established a reporter cell line by stable transfection of human PCa 22Rv1 cells with a lueiferase reporter gene regulated by prostate-specific antigen (PSA) promoter.Using this system,, we identified through systematical purification from plants various phytocompounds that potently suppressed AR activity in PCa cells.
