Nanocomposites based on SiC/C/Fe were synthesized by hydrosilylation of vinyl ferrocene with allylhydridopolycarbosilane resulting in a processable hyperbranched preceramic polymer, namely polyferrocenylcarbosilane(HBPFCS).The polymer-to-ceramic transformation of the HBPFCSs was then investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and solid-state 13C-magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance experiments as well as by thermal gravimetric analysis.A self-catalytic effect of the present ferrocenyl units in the HBPFCS skeleton on the dehydrocoupling reaction provides i)strong crosslinking of the polymer and as a consequence ii)a high ceramic yield of ca.80 wt%at 1200℃ in argon.
