  The Ginkgoales is an ancient group of gymnosperms,which was originated from the late Paleozoic and declined during the Cenozoic.It had a high diversity and wide distribution in Mesozoic.Ginkgo biloba L.is a deciduous tree native to China as the only extant species.The gross leaf morphology of G.biloba from the same or other branches on a tree seem to be various.Therefore,the epidermal structure is considered as significant evidence for identifying fossil Ginkgoales leaves.
