  棉花是世界上重要的纤维和油料作物,完整、高质量的基因组参考序列对棉花基础研究和育种工作具有重要的指导意义。尽管目前已经公布了三个棉种的参考基因组序列,由于棉花基因组较大、复杂度较高,存在大量重复序列等特点,因此依然有相当的DNA 序列还没有定位到具体基因组位置,进而在一定程度上限制了基因组序列的应用。近年来研究显示,基于染色体区域之间的相互作用与基因组位置之间存在关联,有助组装参考基因组序列。本项目利用高通量染色体构象捕获技术获得棉花的染色体交互数据,并结合其它图谱和基因组共线性关系,完善和提高参考基因组。该研究不仅为基因资源的挖掘与利用及重要农艺性状的遗传改良等多个研究方向提供坚实的基础,也为其他复杂基因组的组装提供了新思路和方法。
