“赶花街”是生活在新平县的花腰傣群众最重要的节庆活动之一,通过当代“花街节”活动中所反映出的文化意象,理解其中的丰富文化内涵和民族心理意识,探讨少数民族传统节日在当代社会发展条件下以民族文化展示的方式成为发展旅游业和地方经济的重要途径所承载的社会使用功能,及其变化中所反映出的更深远的社会意义,不仅对少数民族传统文化遗产的积极传承、保护提供参考,也有助于思考在当代社会如何更好地认识该民族传统节日文化特殊的社会角色和历史价值。
