As economic development and population increase, there is a severe shortage of water resources in Beijing, which restrict the rapid development of social economy. It is the base of sustainable development planning to obtain the variation of water amount, water quality and ecological environment, and it is important to evaluate the safety of water source and to make coping strategy. In this paper, multiple sources satellite data were used to dynamic monitor the natural vegetation cover, land use pattern, water surface area and water quality of reservoir. We also studied and analyzed the changing trends of land cover, water amount and water quality, human impact, relation between rainfall and inflow.Monitoring indicators of remote sensing were proposed for variation of natural vegetation and land use in water source zone of Beijing.Combing remote sensing data with ground observation, monitoring model of reservoir water storage was established.Eutrophication of water body was evaluated for Guanting and Miyun reservoir. Finally, factors affecting water source safety were analyzed and countermeasures and suggestions were discussed to ensure water source safety
