In the flow field generated by the shock tube with the elliptical cell,there is the interaction between the vortex ring and the supersonic jet [1].However,there has been little effort to investigate the interaction between the vortex ring and the jet.The purpose of the present study is to investigate the effect of the vortex ring on the supersonic jet.The experiment and numerical calculation were carried out by schlieren method and by solving the axisymmetric two-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equations,respectively.The experimental flow was visualized by the schlieren method using the still camera and the high-speed camera as a continuous light source with a metal halide lamp.The parameter was the pressure ratio of the shock tube.
