To observed the effect of EGb 761 against myocardial fibrosis and its mechanisms. After exposure to aldosterone and EGb 761, cell cycle, proliferation, ET-1 expression, collagen and endothelin (ET) content in culture medium were measured by flow cytometry, MTT, Western blot, hydroxyproline content and radioimmunoassay, respectively.Aldosterone changed cell cycle, increased proliferation, ET-1 expression, collagen and ET contents, which were inhibited by EGb 761.Our results indicated that EGb 761 alleviated myocardial fibrosis by inhibition of proliferation, collagen synthesis, ET-1 expression and improvement of cell cycle.
