In the past decades,game-based learning systems (GBLS) has been widely applied as an effective learning tool because it provides many benefits to student learning.Several studies investigate how to use usability evaluation to improve the interface design of the GBLS.However,existing research has not paid much attention to how human factors affect usability evaluation of GBLS.In this vein,this paper addresses this issue by examining how gender differences influence students responses to the usability evaluation of GBLS.The results demonstrate that H10 (Help and documentation) was considered the most important heuristic by all students.The results also demonstrate that males tended to focus on H9 (Help users recognize,diagnose,and recover from errors) while females show preferences on H3 (User control and freedom),H5 (Error prevention) and H7 (Flexibility and efficiency of use).The findings can support designers to implement an effective personalized GBLS that can accommodate learners gender differences.
