  Gadolinium doped Ceria(Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95-δ),is an interesting material for oxygen transport membranes.The high stability under reducing atmosphere and high ionic conductivity of doped ceria made it attractive recently for material developmental activities with application in Oxygen Transport Membranes(OTMs).An OTM is a gas-tight component permeable only to oxygen,giving 100%theoretical selectivity in separating oxygen from air.OTMs can be integrated into oxyfuel plants to supply pure oxygen into the fuel which omits NOx emission and facilitate CO2 capture and sequestration.Using such membranes for the fuel processing in different industries i.e cement and syngas production can improve the energy efficiency in the production cycle.Designing and developing a high performance oxygen membrane device involves some challenges associated with material development,processing and integration.
