Objective: To observe the efficacy and safety of fire needle in treating psoriasis and to comprehensively evaluate its clinical value. Methods: Sixty cases(18 to 60 years old) were selected according to the diagnosis as well as inclusion and exclusion criteria of psoriasis. They were randomly divided into treatment group(30 cases) and control group(30 cases).Fire-needle therapy was used for the treatment group and calcipotriol cream was used for the control group.Curative effects and adverse indicators were observed after treatment. Results: The cured and mainly effected rate of the treatment group(77.40%) and the control group(71.40%) showed no significant difference(P>0.05).The comparison of skin lesions before and after treatment indicated that both the treatment group and the control group had significant statistical differences(P<0.05).The comparison of two-group skin lesions(each index) after treatment showed no statistical difference(P>0.05).The overall relapse rate of the treatment group(28.57%) and the control group(65%) had significant statistical difference(P<0.05).The treatment group had a much longer term to relapse than the control group, showing significant statistical difference(P<0.05).The level of illness when relapsed of the treatment group had significant difference compared with the control group(P<0.05).Except the scale index, every other index of the treatment group had significant difference compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion: Fire needle for psoriasis has positive curative effect, which can more or less match the curative effect of calcipotriol cream.Fire-needle therapy for psoriasis has a better long-term effect, lower relapse rate, longer relapse term and lighter relapse symptoms than calcipotriol cream.Fire needle for psoriasis is safe and reliable. There is only one case of adverse reactions during the whole course of treating.Fire needle for psoriasis is easy to operate, as well as safe and efficient. It is one of our great traditional and simple methods with a highly expectable clinical value.
