Cotesia vestalis, an endoparasitoid wasp that parasitizes Plutella xylostella, has several matemal factors, such as venom, polydnavirus (PDV), ovarian proteins, and embryonic factors, including teratocytes to suppress the host immune system and impair the host development.Teratocytes are a special kind of cells released from extra-embryonic serosal membranes of some parasitoid wasps at egg hatching.
