  A semi-dry oven method,being environmental friendly and simple process with the absence of organic solvents,was applied to prepare cationic xylan by quaternization of xylan with 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethylammoniumchloride(CHMAC)using sodium hydroxide as a catalyst in this study.
