Synthesis and enhanced luminescence of (Y, Gd)3Al5O12:Dy3+, Bi3+ for white light emitting diodes

  A Series of(Y,Gd)3A15O12 phosphors doped with Dy3+/Bi3+ were successfully prepared by sol-gel combustion method.The phase composition,morphology and luminescence properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Energy Dispersive Spectrometer(EDS),scanning electron microscope(SEM),photoluminescence(PL).The results of XRD and EDS reveal that all of the samples appear as pure single phase,the XRD diffraction peak slightly shift towards big angles with Y3+ concentration increasing.The excitation spectra exhibited a strong broad band with a maximum at 290nm and two weak peaks located at 353nm,366nm,respectively.The emission spectrum excited at 290 nm mainly composed of three characteristic emission peaks including strong blue,yellow and weak red emission peak located at 482nm,582nm and 675nm,respectively.
